Three Fountains Abbey is Roman Catholic church dedicated to St Paul the Apostle, at the presumed site of his martyrdom. The church complex stands on the site where according to tradition, St Paul was beheaded by order of the Emperor Nero, and at each of the three times his head bounced on the ground a spring of water emerged, one hot, one tepid and one cold.
