Banias spring a.k.a Hermon River, is an ancient site dedicated to Greek god Pan (god – who instill panic). It is located at the foot of Mount Hermon, north of the Golan Heights. The spring is the source of the Banias River, one of the main tributaries of the Jordan River.
In the Gospels of Matthew and Mark this site also known as Caesarea Philippi and the Gate to Hades.
