Top aerial view of Roman Theatre at Zippori National Park. Israel. DJI-0101-02

Aerial view of ruins and excavations at Zippori National Park and surrounding fields of Galilee.

Zippori – Sepphoris, Tzipori or Zipori, in the past called Diocaesarea – is a village and an archaeological site located in the central Galilee region of Israel, 6 kilometers north of Nazareth.
It was believed to be the birthplace of Mary, mother of Jesus, where a 5th-century basilica was excavated at the site honouring the birth of Mary. Notable structures at the site include a Roman theatre, two early Christian churches, a Crusader fort, Dionysus House – a Roman villa, containing a mosaic floor describing scenes from the life of Dionysus, god of wine in Greek mythology, and remains of a Jewish residential quarter from the time of the Mishnah and Talmud.
